The free iBooks Author app was released recently, allowing any Mac-toting pedagogue to create and publish an iBook and sell it for $0-14.99 (-30%) exclusively through iBookstore. The features are pretty much what one would expect for the iWorld of touch and multimedia interactivity: customizable templates, media-rich glossaries, “interactive images,” movies, Keynote presentations and 3D models. This video makes the possibilities look impressive: I definitely wish my biology textbook worked like that.
I’m intrigued by how the processes that we already use at FPS can integrate seamlessly into iBooks with this app: rich, interactive diagrams and 3D models, videos, etc., can be beautifully explanatory and contextualized.
P.S. iBooks Author only works with Lion.
