Quiet Zone

Chances are, if you've talked to us on the phone in our office, our conversation was punctuated by a train horn. That's because until last week, trains coming through the inner east side were required to blow their horns at road crossings, and our office is within 600 feet of three such crossings! Luckily the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail project has just established two "Quiet Zones" that make it easier for residents and businesses to coexist with freight trains. We noticed a difference right away and have since enjoyed the relative peace (the trains are still allowed to blow their horns at their discretion...in fact, I can hear a train horn right now!). Before we know it, there will be orange line trains running by on their way to and from the Tilikum Crossing. Because, in case you haven't heard, things are happening in Portland.
