How I came to work at Fat Pencil Studio:

I met a woman at the climbing gym who worked at Ford Food + Drink. One day while visiting her at the cafe, I was attracted by a set of presentation boards with a bicycle hub, which happened to be made by Fat Pencil Studio. I emailed Joshua, telling him a little bit about myself, and I worked as an intern for the summer before being hired full time last fall.

Eight things about me:

Recently read books: Steve Martin’s autobiography Born Standing Up and Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris.

Last movies I saw: @ the Baghdad theater the original Godzilla, followed by the new Godzilla. I liked the original.

Last Halloween costume: Last year I was inspired to wear a onesie, so I transformed myself into a very neon tiger: I sewed a furry head and furry arms for myself, and had a black tassle tail.

Favorite magazines: Lately I’ve been checking out Outside Magazine. I also really like Lapham’s Quarterly, as well as The New Yorker.

Favorite thing about the Ford Building: All the other businesses in this building: I’ve met a lot of interesting people on my way to the bathroom and during Open Ford.

Favorite food: I like the Kimchi Pork sandwich at Lardo, the daily slice at Vincente’s, the rolls at Luc Lac and the Huckleberry donut at Blue Star.

Favorite buildings in Portland: the staircase at the Central branch of the public library, and the brick aesthetic of the old factory building like the Ford Building or the Deschutes Brewery.

Sport: My favorite sport hands down is climbing. This summer I have a goal to complete Infinite Bliss, a 23 pitch climb on Washington’s Mt. Garfield. This is going to be a challenge since my last 12 pitch began at 8 am and ended at 1 am. I love both technical sports and technical graphics!
