In recent years, we've seen an increasing number of cases that involve GPS data. This type of data can be captured by ankle monitors, cell phone apps, vehicle onboard computers, or any manner of geolocated, smart devices. Fat Pencil Studio works to calibrate and analyze GPS data – often starting with nondescript spreadsheets of latitude, longitude, date, time, speed, and more – and create compelling maps that provide a clear, factual retelling of the case. We assist teams in visualizing the environmental, spatial, temporal, or social context in which the GPS data were captured, and illustrate key issues for a more robust visualization of the case narrative.
