The work we do for construction defect cases usually involves producing graphics to support the testimony of expert witnesses. We create illustrations, interactive diagrams, animations and even analog 3d models to help these experts explain how buildings function and how they fail. The approach we take depends on the point that needs to be made and the strategy the legal team is using to communicate technical information. One method that can be particularly engaging and flexible is called “live diagramming”: we produce a dry-erase laminated board printed with one or more diagrams that the expert witness can draw directly onto. This allows the expert to respond to questions graphically and provides a welcome break from projected slides.
